How to use the DAL when I need only part of the fields?

Hi,

First I'd like to say that I enjoy reading the book. It's very informative and a great reference.

I also love the blueprint.

I'm looking for some explanation & sample on using the DAL when I only need part of the data.

Let's say that I only want to display a list of customers in some list box. I may have an index on the Name column of the Customer table - making this very fast compared to fetching all of the fields.

How do I do that?

Do you have any sample of such scenario?

Thanks

Hi,

please have a look at later check-ins: I've redesigned the DAL as a "LINQ friendly" Repository which (also) allows you to specify the list of attributes to load by means of the "select" keyword within a LINQ query

Thanks for your reply.
I will surely take a look into it.
Again, great effort.
